Meydan
Sometimes known as Meydan or Meydan City, Dubai’s 40-million-square-meter project is currently in various stages of construction and planning.
Its centerpiece is the world-famous Meydan Racecourse, which opened in 2010 and hosts the annual Dubai Cup. The Dubai Cup is considered the world’s richest horse race, with a $30 million prize pool at stake throughout the day, including the $10 million first prize.
There are several sub-projects under the umbrella of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Municipality. These include:
Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum City: Communities of villas and mixed-use developments such as Elf Quarter, Emirates Airline Apartments, Meydan Villas, and Kent College of Canterbury
Meydan Heights is a 528-unit townhouse development. Home to the Emirates flight crew, it has a community center and several mosques.
Meydan Avenue. It includes the Meydan Racecourse and Grandstand and the Meydan Hotel.
Meydan One will house more than 83,000 people and will include the 711-meter-high Dubai One Tower, Meydan One Mall, a five-star hotel, a civic center, an indoor sports complex, and a length of 4 kilometers of facilities such as canals and marinas.
Horizon by Meydan is a mixed-use development overlooking the Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary.
Meydan Metropolis is a proposed commercial development of 350,000 square meters designed by Malaysian architect TAK Design Consultants. Millennium Estates is a gated community of 198 luxury villas adjacent to the Grandstand.
Polo Residences is a small residential complex consisting of 29 five-story luxury apartment blocks.
Polo Townhouses is a collection of contemporary townhouses located near Meydan Racecourse.
The Meydan Free Trade Zone offers companies a prime location and easy set-up.
